IQ Option was launched in 2013 and quickly became one of the most recognised brands in retail binary trading.
Today, the brand is split between two main entities. IQ Option Europe Ltd is regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under licence 247/14, a ‘Tier 1’ body in our regulator tracker. It serves traders in the European Economic Area under the EU’s MiFID II framework.
However, after ESMA’s 2018 product-intervention decision prohibiting binary options for retail investors, IQ Option’s CySEC-regulated arm shifted to offering CFDs and other leveraged products only, and no longer provides binary options to EEA retail clients.
Outside the EEA, services are provided by an offshore entity in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (IQ Option LLC / SKY LADDER LLC), where the broker continues to offer binary and digital options.
